   What you should know when you will start?

 
 
  Nearly all healing or combat points locations on the body are based  on their Cun measurement from a prominent anatomical landmark.


If you are not accurate then you will  not get much effect in your self- defense or healing applications.
 

  
What is a Cun (sometimes written as "tsun, Japanese: sun, Korean: chon) 
Measurement?

 

 
The "cun" is the standard unit of measurement for the body used in acupuncture. As everyone's body has different dimensions, it is defined according to the person whose body is to be treated or attacked.
 
1cun =  width of the thumb, in the middle, at the crease. One cun is also equal to the space between the distal interphalangeal joint and the proximal interphalangeal joint on the middle finger.
 
1,5 cun=  The two sides of the index and middle fingers when they are held together at the level of the proximal interphalangeal joints.
 
2cun=  combined breadth of the index, middle and ring finger, at the level of the index finger`s end/tip.
2 cun is also equal to distance between proximal interphalangeal joint (crease of) and end/tip of index finger.
 
3 cun =  combined breadth of the 4 fingers held together, dorsal aspect, excluding thumb, at level of proximal interphalangeal joint of middle finger.     
            
 
   
            
However, this cun can only be used on certain parts of the body when finding acupuncture (Combat) points - on other points you use other relative landmarks and proportions (see below).
 
For example, the space from nipple to nipple is 8 cun and this 8 cun can be used to find points on the chest.

The distance from the elbow crease to the wrist crease is 12 cun and this 12 cun can be used to points on the arm. The space from the center of the patella to the lateral malleolus is 16 cun and this 16 cun can be used to find points on the legs, etc.
For more accurate measurements to all body is used so called proportional snipped method (see below), but for our purpose it will be enough to use finger wide. They will be shown also in schemes.

If you are making point massage to other person, it will be preferable to make small pattern (see in photo) using patient (not yours) finger wide. It is preferable that for women you use right, but for men left hand  fingers.
    

 The thumb is used for making 1-5 cun pattern for massage, acupressure               Massage, acupressure master is using middle finger for making 1-5 cun pattern.

On the bones usually they are located in delve or fosse.
 
Usually acupressure points are more sensitive than surrounding area. – If it works, you will feel pain,warm, light tendency on your hand, leg fingers or along bones, tingling, and pulsation).
For this reason do not relay on cun measurements. Touch ~ 0.5-inch area and listen in your feelings

Do not lay only on cun measurements. Touch ~1 cm area and listen in to your feelings.
 
Usually active points are dislocated in dip or in dimple, sometimes on wart. This corresponds also to the bones.

Indeed, to get sure with hit to partner or other person, that point is working, is the worth and the most sneaking thing that you can do. This activity is allowed and reasonable only in the case of real danger. Carefully read the point Cv 17, Liv 14 descriptions, we there explain the danger of instant and delayed effects.
You must be careful even in training.

Usually acupressure points are more sensitive than surrounding area. Is the place is right, easily pressing (you can try with rotation motion) 5-10 sec., you must feel the warmness, light current to the finger of arms and legs or along your bones, tingling, pulsation. 

The pain point, for sure, must be painful, when you push stronger. If it is not working than you can try to change a place and pressure direction.
In the start in such a way find points on your body, than try it on family members and training partner’s body.
Choosing people with different height and structure you will get familiar with different proportions.




You were writing about delayed effect when human got light household trauma and without visible reasons on the next morning was dead. Which is this point and where it is located?


In the described case the man was unfortunately fell down with butt and back on small root (so actually got 2 point blows, in addition very unlucky angle for him). As you have noticed, points that are described in the guide mostly are in front of the body. Our target was to show point for self- defense, not for attack. For this reason, we do not include these points. However, professionals will agree with me that with described points are more than enough that effect is the same.



     The first time I see such easy but in the same time accurate point dislocation descriptions.
Even if I don’t know anatomical terms, I can easily find them. The doctor which is familiar to me, with who we are training together, approve that also from medical opinion all are correct although not always is explainable in science terms. All I want more is in the same way showed fighting styles.

The only suggestion is - do not learn with aggressive trainer. 
If you will become aggressive even  in thoughts, 
you must fight often and in many places.

      Why the points are numbered in such of interesting way?
      I think that it could be more comfortable if the numeration of the points can start with most           powerful points on the torso, head and ended with less important.


We are afraid that you are thinking as potential attacker, but we must agree,        that first decisive hit is necessary for self- defense. 

We are reminding that guide in basics is predicted for classical situation. 
So the will be prepared to use (or already used) hands and/or legs. His vitally important body parts will be  covered. Therefore, the most available will be hand and leg points and exactly these body parts  must be  made not dangerous for you. Often it  is enough, to end the fight. 
This is the 1st reason.

 The second is psychological aspect. Attacking the extremities  or rising pain effect in them you provide opponents attention.

3rd is set up point specific – they make stronger torso, head and other points effect.
 
If you are using controlling points, you are turning opponent’s body or its parts to your desired direction. Hence our shock sequence – hands and/or legs – head, neck, and torso. Accordingly to this is made the numeration.
 

 
 
 
 I found the points on my body very easy, but it is not going so well on others body.

 
Answer. 
Do not forget that cun measurements are opponents (or patient), not your finger wide. Must hope   that you will not fight with smaller opponent on the street, but more massive attacker with large knuckles also will have wider fingers, this mean that his 1st cun will be longer. This especially must remember women.
 
So, you must apply a kind of coefficient of transition. Train your estimation by sight. This will come by time. Use also proportional line segment scheme (especially this is related for torso). For sure, here also we cannot go through without estimation by sight. If there is not a reaction on control and pain points, without tearing off the hand (with sliding move) a little change place and/or pressure direction until reaction will show out.
 
 
 
 
 
One more time let’s talk about point localization on opponents` body.
 
We explained that point dislocation depends from human body in whole. There are also people with very long hands or short legs. Not for the entire God has predicted to be as models (or ideal dummy for our training). Also on stubby people will be more difficult to influence through the points. However, the most important is that several people constitution demand also makes different influence directions.
One time it is blow in 45 deg, sometimes it is necessary to do  it  in 50 deg, but this  is professional action and it demands a years.

"No, I do not training in private trainings and do not take new learners. I will not do this about 3-4 years more at least. I have stored a lot of information (not only in martial arts aspects) and I must find something more.
